My kid rode a bike my himself for the first time yesterday. He’s 9 and when he came to live with us 2 years ago no one had even tried to teach him how to ride a bike. Also he has some balance and coordination difficulties but he’s been in occupational therapy for over a year now, and last year learned how to ride a scooter. We’ve been working on biking for awhile but last night I said to him “it’s time we take those training wheels off” he agreed they came off. Pretty much immediately he was riding like a pro. Figured out turning without a problem even noticed how the pedal brake works on his own. He rode for like 10 blocks yesterday. I was literally screaming with excitement cheering him on.
